The two got married in 1993 and embarked on a life filled with deep love and a shared passion for nature. Together, they established the non-profit organization, Saving Tompkins, and used it to purchase a vast wild area spanning 8,100 square kilometers (810,000 hectares) between Chile and Argentina, making them one of the largest private landowners in the world. Their conservation and biodiversity development efforts expanded to cover an area of 50,000 square kilometers (5,000,000 hectares). In the new millennium, they began donating most of their land to the Chilean government, making it the largest private land donation in history. \Wild Life\ chronicles their generous donations in a chronological order.
