原版小说讲述的故事发生在一个神奇的世界里，故事主角亨利·休格从一本尘封多年的医疗笔记中，了解到一段惊世骇俗的往事：通过练习瑜伽，印度人莫哈特闭上双眼也能看见世间万物。一个电光火石般的灵感在亨利的大脑里炸开，他要利用笔记里的奥秘，横扫全世界赌场的财富，然而结局却出人意料……
